Think of your HVAC system like the heart of your home—it heats or cools the air, just like your heart pumps blood. Your ductwork is like the blood vessels; it carries that conditioned air (the “oxygen”) to every room in the house, keeping everything balanced and functioning.
If the ductwork is clogged, leaky, or undersized, it’s like having blocked or damaged arteries. Even if your HVAC system is working perfectly, the air can’t reach where it needs to go efficiently, leading to poor comfort and higher energy bills—just like poor circulation causes fatigue in the body.

Why Ductwork Matters for Energy Efficiency
Your ducts are responsible for delivering heated or cooled air throughout your home. But over time, ducts can develop cracks, disconnect, or become clogged with dust and debris. According to ENERGY STAR®, the average home loses up to 30% of conditioned air through leaks, holes, or poorly connected ducts.
Properly installed and sealed ductwork plays a key role in:
♦ Keeping every room evenly heated or cooled
♦ Reducing strain on your HVAC system
♦ Lowering monthly energy bills
♦ Improving indoor air quality by reducing dust and allergens
♦ Enhancing overall system performance and airflow
Ductwork + Home Performance
For maximum energy savings and year-round comfort, we often recommend evaluating your ductwork as part of a broader home performance strategy. Your ducts work in tandem with your attic insulation to control airflow and temperature retention, so addressing both can lead to dramatic improvements in efficiency. Leaky or poorly insulated ducts can also strain your HVAC system and compromise indoor air quality by allowing dust, allergens, or contaminants to circulate through your home. If you’re already upgrading insulation or HVAC equipment, it’s the perfect time to inspect and seal your ductwork.

Real Homeowner Results
Homeowner explains How proper insulation and efficient HVAC upgrades can dramatically improve comfort and reduce energy costs.
To Whom It May Concern,
While remodeling our future retirement home, we discovered that the attic furnace ducts were leaking badly and needed to be replaced. Since both the furnace and air conditioner were older and inefficient, we decided it made sense to replace the entire system.
Energy efficiency was very important to us, so we chose an air conditioning unit with a high SEER rating and invested in significant attic insulation. We had R-45 insulation blown into the attic, including additional coverage over the AC ducting, along with a radiant barrier installed along the roof line. We also added an attic vent fan and a whole-house fan to help improve airflow throughout the home.
During the hot summer months, our electric bill typically stays between $68 and $77 per month, and even now we rarely need to run the air conditioner.
Overall, we have been extremely happy with the improvements to our home’s comfort and efficiency. The system even qualified for the maximum available energy rebate. We would gladly recommend this type of energy-efficient upgrade to any homeowner looking to improve comfort while keeping monthly energy costs low.

Frequently asked questions ABOUT Ductwork Services
How do I know if my ductwork is leaking?
Signs include hot or cold spots, unusually high energy bills, or weak airflow. Many Inland Empire homes have older or improperly sealed ducts, which can leak up to 30% of the air you’re paying to heat or cool.
Can dirty ductwork affect my indoor air quality?
Yes, dirty ductwork can circulate dust, allergens, and contaminants through your home, reducing your indoor air quality and worsening allergy symptoms.
How often should I have my ducts inspected or cleaned?
We recommend inspecting ductwork at least every 2–3 years and cleaning as needed, especially if you have pets, allergies, or notice a drop in airflow.
Are flexible ducts better than metal ducts for Southern California/Inland Empire homes?
Flexible ducts are easier to install and cost-effective, but metal ducts are more durable and less prone to kinks or airflow restriction. It depends on the layout and performance goals of your home.
Can upgrading my ductwork help with energy efficiency?
Absolutely. Sealing leaks, replacing poorly insulated sections, and upgrading to high-efficiency duct designs can improve airflow and reduce your energy bills significantly.
